Hamptons Community Outreach honors the memory of inspiring resident Julio Florencio Teo Gómez, with the introduction of an impactful job training initiative. Mr. Teo Gómez, a father of five who came to the United States from Guatemala in 2010, tragically passed away at 48 in a car accident on County Road 39 in Southampton. As he lived, he was a man who inspired others even in the face of tough times, and now his motivating legacy lives on through this job training initiative.

The goal of the initiative is to equip people in situations akin to Mr. Gómez with the skills needed in trades like carpentry and plumbing. In response to the heartbreaking loss of Mr. Gómez, the organization put its efforts toward the launch of a comprehensive job training program. The purpose is to empower participants, giving them a solid path to well-paying, year-round jobs and, ultimately, a better quality of life.

Marit Molin, a social worker and the founder behind Hamptons Community Outreach stresses the pivotal role of community support in making the training program a hit. She also ensures that businesses will be compensated for their training contributions.

Hamptons Community Outreach has a track record of looking out for economically disadvantaged families, marginalized individuals, and immigrant communities, addressing basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. This commitment goes beyond the basics, including providing motel stays during extreme weather and dropping off groceries to families tucked away in remote areas. The organization reaches over 400 families weekly.

Donors to Hamptons Community Outreach often resonate with specific programs, from providing budding musicians with instruments to giving kids’ bedrooms a makeover. Despite the positive impact, there are still challenges. Currently, 45 families are waiting for emergency home repairs.

A recent charitable event on Feb. 10 at the Watermill Center, described as a “celebration of love, hope, big dreams, and our dedication to changing lives,” raised a whopping $60,000. While this generosity keeps current programs running and jumpstarts the job training initiative, more help is needed to fully realize the organization’s enriching goals.

Molin recognizes the tears and challenges involved but also emphasizes the triumphs, growth, and incredible kindness and generosity along the way. The newly launched job training program is further proof of Hamptons Community Outreach’s dedication to creating lasting positive change in the lives of those facing adversity.

As the organization extends its reach and impact, it envisions a future where the job training program becomes a standard practice in uplifting communities. The initiative doesn’t just equip individuals with practical skills; it injects a needed dose of confidence and hope, capturing the organization’s overarching purpose to create a sustainable impact in the lives of individuals and families.

Opening doors to new opportunities, The Hamptons Community Outreach job training program helps to build skills and break cycles of poverty. Every donation and partnership contributes to the ripple effect of positive change as the organization stands devoted to changing lives and fostering growth. Continuing to make a lasting difference, the latest job training program marks a pivotal step towards a brighter future – one that reflects the shining inspiration of Mr. Teo Gómez.
