At 24, Dylan Laube from Westhampton, NY, has fulfilled his dream of making it to the NFL. The Raiders snapped up the New York native after he finished high school in 2018 at Westhampton Beach High School. Ever since he was five, Laube has been driven by the ambition to compete in professional sports at the highest level.
“It was the best day of my life!” Laube excitedly shared with Patch. “All the effort I poured into this sport, and chasing my dream of playing in the NFL—it’s all paid off.” He spent much of the draft day on edge, watching as other players were picked. The suspense stretched until late afternoon, when at 5:20 p.m., he finally got the call he’d been waiting for from the Raiders’ GM.
Previously a standout running back at the University of New Hampshire, Laube was selected as the 208th pick by the Raiders. His impressive collegiate football career, marked by significant contributions in all-purpose yards and total touchdowns, caught the Raiders’ attention. Additionally, his stellar performance on special teams won him the CAA Special Teams Player of the Year, highlighting his versatility and dedication on the field.
Laube’s passion for football began at the age of five, playing in a pee-wee league alongside his older brother, with their father as the coach. During his time at Westhampton Beach High School, Laube became a local legend, rushing for a record 2,680 yards and scoring 47 touchdowns in his senior year alone. He led the team to their first LIC win in 28 years, scoring six touchdowns and rushing for 227 yards in that memorable game.
Laube credits his resilience and drive to his family—his parents, Kyle and Noel, and his older brother Devin—who have supported him unwaveringly from the start. “They’ve been right there with me from day one. Even when others doubted, my family stood by me,” he said, expressing deep gratitude for their support.
His success stems more from determination than sheer talent. “People see only a part of it; they think they understand, but they don’t see all that I’ve invested in this game,” he explains. Not the fastest or strongest on the field, Laube’s relentless work ethic sets him apart. With his eyes on the Hall of Fame, he aims to inspire future generations as a testament to what hard work and dedication can accomplish.
As Laube packs up for training camp in Las Vegas, he’s fired up about the chance to compete against the league’s top players and silence his skeptics. His journey has instilled in him the importance of perseverance, goal-setting, and relentless effort.
From his beginnings as a small-town kid with lofty ambitions to becoming an NFL player, Dylan Laube’s remarkable path is a beacon of inspiration for aspiring athletes everywhere. His dedication to perfecting his skills and his constant striving for excellence have catapulted him to the pinnacle of professional football, making his story one that will motivate future generations.
