The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) has announced that the Artemis Rising Foundation will be the new presenting sponsor for the upcoming 32nd festival, scheduled from October 4 to October 14.
This alliance between HIFF and the Artemis Rising Foundation, spearheaded by CEO Regina K. Scully, is a harmonious fit. The foundation, celebrated for its support of boundary-pushing media and educational initiatives, focuses on producing influential documentaries that tackle critical issues like mental health, trauma recovery, addiction, sustainability, and personal empowerment.
Over the last twenty years, Regina K. Scully has facilitated impactful films through the Artemis Rising Foundation, influencing legislation, policy, education, and cultural norms. Award-winning documentaries supported by the foundation include *Fantastic Fungi*, *Won’t You Be My Neighbor?*, *The Biggest Little Farm*, *Common Ground*, *Waterproof*, *Fed Up*, *Miss Representation*, *Alive Inside*, *Athlete A*, *What Would Sophia Loren Do?*, and *The Invisible War*. Other festival supporters include notable names like Audi, UBS, King & Spalding, and Netflix.
Regina K. Scully’s involvement on the board of the Hamptons International Film Festival makes her partnership through the Artemis Rising Foundation a natural fit. Anne Chaisson, HamptonsFilm’s Executive Director, shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration: “This partnership will boost our capacity to create opportunities and support for filmmakers. We are deeply thankful to our board member Regina K. Scully and her Artemis Rising Foundation for acknowledging the vital role of film festivals and filmmaking in shaping our cultural landscape.”
Scully echoed this sentiment, adding, “Now more than ever, we need to find, support, and highlight our gifted storytellers. Our stories define our culture. Through the lens of film and media, we evolve individually and collectively.”
Hamptons International Film Festival works toward this mission year-round through a variety of programs aimed at elevating the voices of diverse and emerging filmmakers. Its 24th Annual Screenwriters Lab was held in April, where three budding filmmakers were paired with expert mentors to learn more about their craft.
Mentors included Michael Covino (THE CLIMB), Bart Freundlich (THE MYTH OF FINGERPRINTS), and Celine Song (PAST LIVES). Fellow Sarah Mokh was presented with this year’s Melissa Mathison Award, created to help female filmmakers reach their full potential.
Along with the sponsorship announcement, HamptonsFilm also shared additional exciting details about the 2024 festival. The official poster artwork will feature a piece from internationally acclaimed artist–and Hamptons native–Mary Heilmann. Heilmann’s work was celebrated in Matt Creed’s documentary MARY HEILMANN: WAVES, ROADS, AND HALLUCINATIONS, which premiered at HIFF last year. The documentary is now scheduled to be released by Tribeca Films. It will be screened again at this year’s HIFF in conjunction with the unveiling of the poster, which features Heilmann’s piece, “Maricopa Highway.” Heilmann’s work is also being showcased at The Parrish Art Museum, which is working with HIFF to honor the artist.
Hamptons International Film Festival is accepting film submissions until May 16, 2024. The official lineup of films being screened will be released on September 12. You can buy your tickets to the festival starting on September 23, or September 21 if you are a member.
