Holistic Wellness: A Growing Trend
Generating attention and appreciation for its many health benefits, holistic approaches to wellness are rising in use for various reasons, with people seeking alternative routes to wellness due to being dissatisfied with conventional forms of treatment alone or wanting a more personalized approach that aligns better with their values. Recognizing this new demand for holistic approaches to wellness, hospitals are beginning to blend alternative services as part of their comprehensive care packages. Celebrating with a “Summer of Wellness” is the Southampton Hospital Foundation, which is providing a series of summer wellness events for enthusiasts to enjoy.
Holistic approaches to wellness are a combination of traditional and alternative forms of healthcare. Alternative forms of medicine can include treatments such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, yoga, meditation, exercise, and more. The goal is to view a person through a “whole-body” perspective, which involves looking just beyond the physical body and tangible test results. Holistic wellness focuses on creating balance and harmony between your body, mind, and spirit. Holistic approaches to wellness aim to fill the gap of traditional medicine, viewing a person as a complex and interconnected system—all facets of one’s health need to be cared for to maintain overall wellness.
Southampton Hospital Foundation’s “Summer of Wellness” Series
Bringing holistic care to the East Coast, Southampton Hospital Foundation is offering a diverse collection of events to the community for wellness-seekers. This summer, the Southampton Hospital Foundation is hosting a “Summer of Wellness,” which is a series of pop-up benefit wellness classes curated to support you on your wellness journey. Welcoming both seasoned wellness lovers and wellness-journey beginners to its summer events, the foundation aims to offer something for everyone in its “Summer of Wellness” series.
The Southampton Hospital Foundation, a fundraising and communication sector of Southampton Hospital, is a non-profit organization with the sole mission of supporting Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s mission to deliver first-class healthcare and expand clinical programs to meet the growing needs of the East End community. With its own board of trustees, this foundation has recently changed its structure and mission, placing more emphasis on fundraising opportunities while concentrating its efforts on increasing critical philanthropic support that ensures top-quality patient care.
The “Summer of Wellness” series will include classes in various locations throughout the East End. Individuals looking for wellness opportunities can enjoy everything from Torch’d by Isaac Boots at The Wine Stand at Wölffer Estate to Dance Body: Sculpt at the Bridgehampton Community House.
At the end of June, there will be Yoga at Mecox instructed by David Marshall at Mecox Bay Dairy. Wellness goers are invited to join the foundation for a farm-fresh Vinyasa that is sure to make the cows jealous. Taking place on Saturday, June 29 at 4 p.m. in Bridgehampton and hosted by Haley Ludlow with instructor David Marshall, event-goers are invited to stay after the class for a complimentary ZenWTR and tasty treat from Chloe’s.
The foundation has designed each class to help you connect with your inner self and the world around you, and proceeds from the “Summer of Wellness” will benefit the Southampton Hospital Foundation’s mission.
As interest in holistic wellness continues to grow, it’s important to recognize the value of integrating both traditional and alternative methods. These approaches provide a more comprehensive view of health, addressing physical, mental, and emotional needs simultaneously, fostering overall well-being.
The “Summer of Wellness” series by the Southampton Hospital Foundation exemplifies this integrated approach, offering diverse wellness experiences for all levels. By participating, individuals not only enhance their personal health journey but also contribute to vital fundraising efforts supporting the foundation’s mission of improving community healthcare.
