Perhaps it was Liza Minelli who first captured your cabaret attention with “Maybe This Time.” Or maybe it was Ewan McGregor’s eyes when he turned back to sing “Come What May” in the Moulin Rouge that attracted you to the musical genre. Or maybe you’re a very recent fan after watching Eddie Redmayne perform at this year’s Tony Awards.

While what may have first attracted you to cabaret music may have passed, this musical category is still bringing glamor and drama to the stage today. Recently announcing their new dynamic musical concert series, Summer Songbook by the Sea, LTV Studios in East Hampton is the new home for cabaret music—bringing a host of talent to their stage this summer for all to enjoy.

LTV Studios’ Summer Songbook by the Sea: A New Cabaret Home

LTV Studios’ Summer Songbook by the Sea is produced by stage performer Donna Rubin and current LTV Studios Creative Director Josh Gladstone, who declared that “LTV’s Studios’ Hamptons Summer Songbook Series will become Cabaret’s new home in the Hamptons.” Accompanied by his announcement was Gladstone’s excitement for the new summer music series, stating that the music still has grit to offer and that “it is beautiful work with great ingenuity and vitality, so when given the opportunity to program a new room, I felt (Cabaret) is underserved and there is an audience!”

Gladstone’s appreciation for the musical genre and its performers in a later statement, where he emphasized that “these cabaret performers are resilient, and while many venues have closed (due to the pandemic), these performers are still working where and when they can. They are appreciative of a new venue, a new room because rooms are closing all over the country… I want to give this small and intimate room over to the artists who are just veterans of this craft and have been at it for decades and who are masters!”

However, the creative director is not the only producer expressing their excitement. In an interview, Rubin shared her thoughts on the series of shows scheduled at LTV Studios, stating she is “… excited to be able to bring this talented array of well-known cabaret performers to the east end…For some, it will be their first time performing out east… Normally, one must pay quite a lot more to hear this level of cabaret talent.”
