Actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore has listed her East End home on Long Island for $8,450,000.
Barrymore, who bought the 1.7-acre Sagaponack estate in 2019, paid a reported $5.5 million and then remodeled the home.
The original barn on the property was built in the year 1920 and went through several additions and renovations over the past century. Barrymore’s upgrades, which might be the least traditional of those renovations, could be considered the most stylish. Seven bedrooms and six baths comprise the home’s 6,850 square feet, which is spread out between the main house and a one-bedroom, one-bath guest cottage.
More traditional rooms within the home include a living room with original beams and wood floors, built-in bookcases, a brick fireplace, and a pair of French doors leading out to the verdant grounds.
The great room, however, features high ceilings and breathtaking views from wide windows and French doors.
The family room is separated from an open kitchen and breakfast nook by a double-height wall made of window frames, and the pastel pink study with the sloping ceiling and skylight also appears to be a Barrymore addition.
Each of the bedrooms within the home is spacious, with several of them being en suite. Some have adjoining decks and balconies, and one features black wallpaper with white flowers. The bathrooms between the home and cottage have all been updated, but some still retain the traditional farmhouse feel. The home also includes a home theater within it as well.
The outdoor spaces may be more inspiring than those inside the home. A pool, a pool house, a bocce ball court, and multiple gathering and conversation areas make up the grounds, among which are vegetable, herb, and flower gardens as high and far as one can see. The property also stands near the ocean, which is less than a mile away.
Barrymore—who began her career at just 11 months old when she played in a dog food commercial—rose to fame as a child of just 7 in the 1982 film “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” She also won the Young Artist Award for Best Young Supporting Actress for the same film. She starred in several other roles during her childhood, including the 1984 adaptation of Stephen King’s 1980 novel Firestarter and in King’s “Cat’s Eye” anthology horror film.
However, a highly publicized and troubled childhood followed her into her adult roles, which included “Charlie’s Angels,” “The Wedding Singer,” “50 First Dates” and “Never Been Kissed.” She also played in television roles such as in “Grey Gardens,” for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award, and also in the Netflix series “Santa Clarita Diet.” She began her daytime talk show host on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2020. Despite not appearing in many films of late, it has been reported that her daughters, Olive, 11, and Frankie, 10, have given the actress and talk show host their blessings for Barrymore to return to acting.
