If you’ve somehow missed the latest reports, luxury transporter Blade, most exceptionally known for operating private jets and helicopters throughout New York, Canada, and Europe, has officially expanded its operations into the bus market.
Only for the summer, visitors to the Hamptons will have the luxury of enjoying an alternative to the commonly utilized Hampton Jitney. Instead, visitors can relax with Blade’s latest product: the Hamptons Streamliner. The luxury bus is set to offer first-class motor coach service and accommodations to those traveling between Manhattan and the most exclusive part of Long Island.
Hamptons Streamliner will provide services beginning on May 23rd and running until September 3rd.
In total, across its two-month summer schedule, the Blade bus will operate 101 trips to New York City and 82 trips to the Hamptons. Blade will offer a maximum of three round-trip journeys from Manhattan from Thursday to Sunday, with the one-way trip available from the Hamptons on Mondays and one round-trip option available on Saturdays.
Other than select trips departing from Hoboken, New Jersey, city trips will leave from Hudson Yards in Manhattan. However, buses traveling to Manhattan will depart from East Hampton, Southampton, and Bridgehampton, making stops at the depots along the way.
From 6:00 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. daily, various daily trains run depending on the date and direction. Visitors should know that all trips to the city include a stop at 3rd Avenue and 34th Street before the West Side stop.
Window seats or double (side-by-side) aisle seats will be sold for $195 per person, while single seats will cost more at $275. There will be flex fares available, which permit modifications up to three hours before departure time. These flex fares cost an additional $50.
Each Hamptons Streamliner has 19 seats, with single seats on the left side of the bus to maximize each rider’s space and privacy. Any travelers who have pets will be required to pay an additional $50 or up to $100 depending on the size of the pet. Riders with pets must also purchase a single seat.
Upon boarding the Hamptons Streamliner, travelers are allowed to check two bags and bring one carry-on. Any extra or oversized luggage, such as surfboards, bicycles, or golf clubs, will cost an extra $65.
With the high costs, it’s worth noting that while a bus is a bus, Blade promises the upscale service you would expect from the well-respected brand. Features include seats with memory foam backs, five feet of legroom, and a 45° recline. Guests can quickly and easily reach team members via a call button, and there is Hi-Fi Wi-Fi available. The onboard staff members provide blankets and pillows upon request.
Additionally, the food service PopUp Bagels, which requires pre-ordering due to popularity, is offered on morning buses with Sweetgreen available in the afternoon hours. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are provided and include Chateau La Coste rosé, Patron El Alto tequila, Nutrl seltzers, and Saint James iced tea.
The project is a partnership with a first-class motor coach company, The Jet, which operates between Washington DC and New York.
To book your seats from Manhattan to the Hamptons this summer, availability runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
